Weight Loss Diet Plans — 5 Reasons They Just Don’t Work!
The unfortunate facts are that most weight loss diet plans not only fail us miserably they end up making us fatter! Nearly half of people that diet by cutting calories regain or exceed their weight within one year! Why do most of these plans fail so miserably?
Reason #1
Diets make fat cells fatter.
The average person has about 20 – 30 billion fat cells, encouraging, huh? And, women have more than men — lucky us! What’s even more depressing is that these fat cells can grow in number and size up to 100 billion!!!
Now I hate to continue on this depressing path but as it turns out whenever you try to starve a fat cell it only gets better at hanging on to the fat. I found this description to be the ultimate in irony: “diets are essentially a fitness program for fat cells!”

It’s that whole ancestral famine thing that makes our fat cells hang on to fat for dear life whenever they are feeling threatend — like when we diet by restricting calories.
Reason #2
Diets mess with our enzymes.
Every time we diet we increase the production of enzymes in our cells that encourage them to store fat and reduce the production of the enzymes that tell them to burn fat.
Reason #3
Diets are bad, bad, bad for our metabolism.
I’m sure you’ve heard this before. Dieting wreaks havoc with our metabolism. Strict calorie reducing diets give out signals to make our metabolism slow down.
Reason #4
Diets play heck with our minds.
You know how it goes, you are on a diet that tells you not to have any bread. You do okay for a few days and then the next thing you know you’re eating the entire basket of rolls at one sitting.
Reason #5
You just can’t stick with a diet for the long term.
Even though you stick with your diet long enough to lose some weight once you return to your “usual” eating habits the weight comes right back on. In order to maintain a healthy weight you need to adjust your eating habits for the long term — not just a quick fix of 2 or 3 weeks.
If you want to know which weight loss diet plans will really work do your research and look for one that advocates a healthy way to eat for the long haul not one that is so restrictive that you know you’ll never be able to stick with it.
You might be able to lose a few pounds quick but chances are — and history proves it — you’ll typically end up gaining those pounds back with a few extra for good measure!
