I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials on tv for NutriSystem.  There’s been a lot of famous people promoting this plan.  I think most people jump to the conclusion that it is too expensive to have food delivered but let’s take a look at what it costs and how it works.

There are several plans to choose from, but for the most part, the meals break down to about $3 – $4 per meal.  The only additional grocery items you need to add are fresh fruit and vegetables.

In my opinion this plan is great for those who lead a really busy life and just don’t want to be bothered trying to figure out some compliated diet plan.  It takes all the guess work out of trying to eat a healthy diet.

With the pre-packaged foods delivered right to your door you don’t have to spend the extra time involved in planning your meals, making a shopping list and then shopping for all the items you’ll need to follow your diet plan.

You don’t have to worry about portion control, how many grams of protein, carbs and fats your getting, it’s all done for you.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the choices available in their menu.  And you can either create your own custom menu from over 170 entree and dessert choices or choose a ready made plan.  The best part?  This food actually tastes good! A few of my favorites are the Beef and Noodles in Teriyaki sauce, Green Pepper Steak with Rice and Stroganoff with Beef and noodles.  Doesn’t sound like diet food does it?

All the food choices are based on sound nutrition features like  low-glycemic “good carbs”, protein, fiber, omega-3s, low sodium, low fat and no trans fat.  You can add your own fresh fruit, dairy, salad and fresh vegetables.

Another plus about this program is the free membership that goes along with it.  At last check there were  4,609,120 members in their online community.  That’s a whopper of a support group!  You get unlimited counseling and a lot of great online tools.  This makes it a perfect match for the busy person that likes to interact with others but just doesn’t have the time for outside meetings.  It’s always great to get a pat on the back for your success and to be encouraged by reading about others’ success.  Dieting is hard enough, going it alone is even harder.  (There’s also a great step-by-step system called “Mindset Makeover” that helps with attitude and habits.)

There are several plans to choose from including diabetic and vegetarian plans and different plans for men and women and even plans for seniors.  It’s not a cookie cutter, one size fits all diet.  It’s highly customizable to fit your likes and dislikes.

With the huge amount of online tools they make available to you to plan your meals and track your progress and the home delivery this is hands-down the most convenient diet plan I’ve ever seen.  And you might be surprised to know that for two years in a row Forbes.com has found NutriSystem to be the lowest priced popular weight loss program!

The downside?  You might think it’s too costly but if you take a serious look at what you’re getting versus what you spend at the grocery store I think you’ll find this an affordable, convenient diet plan.
